On a recent visit to the Cape I realized that somehow along the line we have forgotten how to communicate........ Old cliche you say!!!! I don't think so
What prompted me to say that?
Well my Mom, not really of the digital/technical age, was a real challenge as I seemed to be speaking "technical" to her and I didn't know how to change what I was saying to make it "non technical". According to my Mom she didn't even understand some of the basics of our conversatio......... Wow I was stumped! I'm not "technical" I don't even speak "technical".
My brother, bless his soul, will buy my mom gadgets e.g. laptops, PVR's, etc. and then I get the wonderful opportunity to explain how things work.............. Now see this is where it gets really difficult as she doesn't even remember/know the basics e.g. fast forward, rewind, play, pause, etc. even if I compare it to a tape recorder or a 8 track - she doesn't know. To complicate things further she doesn't want to know all these things she just wants to use the record function on the PVR........
How do you show someone how to use the record function if they don't know a thing about the playback?
